Alex joined the financial planning industry in 1987 as a Life and as General Agent with AMP. In 1990, he started performing marketing and management roles for AXA Australia (formerly National Mutual), including General Agency Manager for the Northern Territory.
Alex then merged his financial planning business to lead the All Financial Services group, where he further developed his skills and qualifications.
This extensive experience has given Alex more than 30 years of senior management experience in an industry he loves. He’s a highly motivated, visible and progressive leader with a reputation for developing and implementing innovative strategies that shape the future state of businesses.
His passion is reflected in the consistent and positive results he achieves. His analytical nature and ability to deliver to the highest standards are complemented by his attention to corporate governance and risk management. This ensures balanced yet progressive outcomes for clients.
Alex is a certified financial planner (CFP®), chartered tax adviser and SMSF specialist adviser (SSA™). He has a Diploma of Financial Planning and holds memberships with the Financial Advice Association Australia, The Tax Institute and the SMSF Association.
Outside of work, Alex is a dedicated husband and father of two. He enjoys entertaining friends and family with fine wine and great food. Other pastimes include fishing and, most importantly, walking his Pugalier, Millie.

Simon Wotherspoon is a Director of Perks Private Wealth and a key member of our wealth advisory team. Simon brings a wealth of experience and diverse skills including a background in corporate sales and marketing, followed by a decade as Director of Wotherspoon Wealth where he steered his financial advisory practice to FPA Professional Practice of the Year in 2018, ultimately merging with Perks in 2020.
As founding Director, Principal Adviser and Investment Committee Chair at Wotherspoon Wealth, Simon is deeply experienced in constructing and maintaining multi-asset class portfolios and developing tailored wealth management strategies for his clients. The cornerstone principles of transparency, honesty and accountability underpin his thriving client-adviser relationships.
Simon specialises in providing comprehensive financial advice services to self-funded retirees, successful business owners, professionals and those with aspirations for financial success and comfort in retirement. He has a demonstrated track-record of building lasting relationships by developing comprehensive strategies in close consultation with his clients. Once agreed, this is then implemented with carefully considered, individually crafted wealth management advice. In ongoing discussions, all advice is continually monitored, and strategies are adapted to suit changing circumstances.
Simon’s career began with six years in sales and marketing at Colgate-Palmolive, managing corporate sales teams as they brought new products to market and grew the company’s market share. He then progressed into the Financial field, working as an Associate Adviser at WHK in Melbourne, while completing a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and a Graduate Certificate of Financial Planning.
In 2010, Simon returned to Adelaide and established Wotherspoon Wealth alongside his father, John. Managing the development and maintenance of multi-asset class investment models in consultation with the firm’s Investment Committee, Simon was also responsible for critical business functions – business development, staffing, marketing and overall strategy. He was Managing Director when the firm was named 2018 Professional Practice of the Year by the Financial Planning Association of Australia.
Simon joined Perks Private Wealth in May 2020 after merging with Wotherspoon Wealth and is committed to driving the next phase of the financial planning profession.

His background is in accounting, holding an Associate Diploma of Accounting, and a Certificate in Business Advisory Services, through the Society of Certified Practising Accountants. Shan specialises in Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) and is acknowledged by the Self-Managed Super Fund Professionals’ Association of Australia Limited (SPAA) as an SMSF SPECIALIST ADVISOR™.
Shan is committed to continuous education programs to ensure he remains at the forefront of the industry. He is currently undertaking an MBA through The University of Adelaide. His areas of expertise are self-managed superannuation fund strategies and advice, estate planning, advanced tax and gearing strategies, risk management for individuals and corporations as well as succession planning.

Married with two children I enjoy spending time with family and love assisting with their various sporting pursuits. My favourite sporting activities are water and snow skiing.

Mark has been in the Financial Advice industry since the late 1980s. He has been advising clients directly since the early 1990’s and prior to the establishment of GEM Capital worked with many of his existing clients at a leading Australian stockbroking firm.
Mark is a member of the Financial Planning Association and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner. He has a keen interest in investment advice and enjoys assisting people in managing their financial affairs effectively allowing them to pursue the lifestyle they wish. Mark in his spare time enjoys Golf, Cricket and is a keen AFL supporter. He also has an interest in computing.
